Terms & Conditions

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Artist submissions are juried by the Spring Art Market Committee to ensure quality, creativity, originality, and variety. All work must be original in concept, design, execution, and of the artists’ own creation. The artist is expected to be the major contributor of the time required in the essential production of the work.
  • Artist selections are based first and primarily on jury score and secondly on market variety and media balance to maintain the highest standards for both artists and visitors.
  • Artists are responsible for their own cash drawer, credit card processing, and sales tax. The DMC and its staff will not process payment for vendors nor will it supply packaging or bags for sales.
  • You must be designer and producer of the work. All artwork must be original work and not the work of mass production studios. Reproductions must be labeled as such and not make up more than 25% of viewable displayed work. No work that has been made with commercial kits allowed.
  • Your items are artfully and professionally represented in your application photos/and or website.
  • Jewelers must be the designers and hands-on makers of their work (purchased, facet-cut gems may be used/assembled, but pre-fabricated jewelry is not allowed).
  • The Spring Art Market reserves the right to refuse exhibition of work not consistent with submitted images and/or these guidelines.
  • Commercial photographs, giclees and prints are permitted, but must be signed and numbered.
  • Artists must be present for the duration of the market.
  • Artists will be asked to submit a short bio and photo for marketing purposes.

Legal Agreement

  1. The Spring Art Market at the DMC is open to all exhibitors 18 years of age and older.
  2. All work must be original, handcrafted work. Artist guarantees the accuracy of the description of the works presented and the authenticity of the work as the creation of their own hands.
  3. All works on display must be for sale. We recommend exhibitors bring a range of items to accommodate the gift shopper and the fine arts and crafts collector.
  4. All sales will be conducted between the artist and purchaser. Artists are responsible for obtaining a State of Michigan seller’s permit and for collecting and paying Michigan sales tax on all sales made during the Spring Art Market.
  5. Each exhibitor’s work will be screened during Spring Art Market. Artist’s work that not comply with the rules, or differs from the photos submitted, will be asked to be removed. The judgment of DMC will be final and no refunds will be given.
  6. Artists must be present to exhibit and manage their displays during the Spring Art Market.
  7. Artists are limited to the booth space they were assigned. Booth spaces are non-transferable. Any artist who has not been juried into the Spring Art Market, or has not paid the jury and booth fees, will not be allowed to exhibit.
  8. Booths located in front of museum exhibit artwork must remain at least one foot away from and not touching artwork.
  9. Exhibitors must set up booths on Friday, May 10th between the hours of 1 PM and 7 PM. Arrival times will be signed up for prior to the event.
  10. If accepted, you agree to the use of your images for promotional purposes unless you notify us in writing otherwise.
  11. If DMC staff members or volunteers find that an exhibiting artist has caused damage to the Dennos Museum Center property, that artist will be held responsible and will be invoiced following the event. Please take care to not lean chairs or displays against museum walls.
  12. Exhibitor participation is at their own risk. Applying to the market means you release the Dennos Museum Center, their employees, volunteers, and representatives free from any and all liability, as well as giving the Dennos the right to use your name, images, and/or media for promotions.
  13. Exhibitors agree to act in a PROFESSIONAL AND RESPECTFUL manner with fellow exhibitors, staff, volunteers and patrons. Failure to abide by any of the Spring Art Market rules or regulations, whether in the application or created thereafter by the committee, or to act in a professional manner may result in expulsion from the market without the right to refund of fees.
  14. Alcohol and smoking are not allowed on the NMC campus
  15. Once booth fees are paid, there are no refunds regardless of reason.
